These issues will be addressed by the ability to modify the skill queue through EVE Gate.
I don't agree with the idea of "forcing" people to log in to the game to update their skill queue. Seriously, one of the arguments I've seen used was, "you might get into conversation with your corpmates and go out on a roam" - yeah, right: I'm logging in for about 30 seconds to change my skills just before heading off to work, I'm not going on a roam.
Allowing skill queue updates through EVE Gate is dumbing the game down just enough for my satisfaction. Taking away the skill queue altogether an replacing it with a "SP pool" means there will be no distinction between training for Int/Mem skills versus Per/Wil skills. That's dumbing things down too much.
And for the sake of argument, I'm using "dumbing down" in the sense of "making things more convenient for players who don't want EVE to be a second job."
Yea, I have to agree with you on the "no distinction between training for Int/Mem skills versus Per/Wil skills" part, I don't like that much myself. I'll have to think of something to counter that. Maybe something like this...
Lets say (Example) you get 1 "Omni" SP/Sec.
Your current Attributes are 20 Intel, 25 Percep, 17 Char, 20 Will, 25 Mem.
Each skill would have a primary attribute
You would have to convert that "Omni" SP, into one of the 5 Attributes, but the higher the attribute, the more each "Omni" SP would be worth, essentially still keeping remaps and attributes a part of training.
It COULD look like this
Attribute Lvl = 19, "Omni" SP x 0.95 Attribute Lvl = 20, "Omni" SP x 1 Attribute Lvl = 21, "Omni" SP x 1.05
and so on...
Just a thought
Don't get me wrong, I like the way you've grasped the whole 'EVE must be complicated' thing everyone's been saying but I think you've gone too far now... :)
